The older section of Ljubljana preserves the medieval cityscape while the newer section is a showcase of museums of modern art. The city is a fusion of ancient heritage and modernism. This is a town on the Adriatic coast that brims with light and sea breezes. It has the lively energy of a Mediterranean town and fuses the many historic buildings that are regarded the "pearls of Piran."
The lake measures two kilometers across in the north-south direction and can be circled on foot in about three hours. Each step brings the visitor deeper into new vistas that captivate with the beauty of nature and ever-changing scenery brought by the season. Home to many architectural masterpieces, Slovenj Gradec, whose name means "Slovenian Castle," became the sister city of the Japanese city of Arai in 2001.
